What documents are in the database?

Every opinion, order, motion, brief, complaint, and filing from the NC Business Court — 68,000+ documents spanning from 2004 through March 2024. This includes all document types across all 12 judges who have served on the court.

How current is the database?

The corpus covers documents from 2004 through March 2024. Filings after March 2024 are not yet included.

Which judges are covered?

All 12 NC Business Court judges: Bledsoe, Brown, Conrad, Davis, Diaz, Earp, Gale, Jolly, McGuire, Murphy, Robinson, and Tennille. You can filter searches to any individual judge.

Are the original PDFs available?

Yes. Subscribers can download secure links to the original court filings in PDF format. During your free trial you have full download access.

How is this different from searching NCBC's website?

The NC Business Court's own website uses basic keyword search. NC Business Court AI uses semantic vector search — meaning you describe a fact pattern or legal concept in plain English, and the system finds cases that are substantively similar, even if they don't share the same exact words.

Can I filter by judge, year, or document type?

Yes. Use the sidebar filters on the search page to narrow results by judge, year, or document type (opinions, orders, motions, briefs, complaints, etc.).

How much does it cost?

$79/month, or $550/year (about 42% off). One plan, everything included. No per-seat pricing, no feature tiers.

What does the free trial include?

The 30-day free trial gives you full access to everything — searches, AI research answers, PDF downloads, and 12 pleading analyses a month. A card is required to start the trial and billing begins automatically after 30 days; cancel anytime before then and you pay nothing. Prefer not to enter a card? A free account includes 5 searches a day and 2 pleading analyses a month.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. Cancel from your account's billing portal at any time. No cancellation fees, no questions asked. You retain access through the end of your billing period.

Do you offer firm or multi-seat licenses?

Not currently. The subscription is a single-user license.

Are my searches private?

We have privacy protections: searches and uploads are processed by OpenAI under API terms that prohibit training on your data, and we do not store your search content beyond short-term performance caching. These protections are not absolute. Do not submit confidential client information — see the next question.

Is my account information secure?

Passwords are hashed before storage. We use JWT tokens for authentication. We never store credit card numbers — billing is handled entirely by Stripe.

Is attorney-client privilege protected?

We make no representations about whether attorney-client privilege or work-product protection applies to anything you submit to this site. Do not submit confidential client information. Searches and uploaded documents are processed by third-party AI services as described above, and you are responsible for your own professional-responsibility obligations.
